The Past Becomes Present
1967 photo taken by the late, great E.A. Autrey in Santa Barbara, merges with a recent photo of a brick wall in San Anselmo's Robson Harrington House garden. Nothing ever really dies, it is all just recycled.

B&W Lucy in Red and Gold
Working on a series of Fine Art Photography I'm calling "People plus Nature." We humans live in a world of incredible beauty. Sometimes, we just aren't aware of it. When we do notice, we tend to take better care of the world we live in.

Memories - Of The Way We Used To Be
Winter gives one plenty of time to reflect on the past. I used to wish I could lay down in a field and have everyone I was ever friends with walk by and say hello. Since that wasn't possible, in 2009 I made a "It's a Party" video to digitally gather folks together, including those already passed, to the extent I had photos of them. The photos from that video make a great background collage! This year I celebrated my 40th wedding anniversary, thanks to the fact Sam and I have been living separately for nearly half of the 40 years we've been married. Going through my father's old negatives today, I came across this old 1976 photo of a much younger Sam and me. It looked like it was just waiting for a background of memories.

Art on a Hot and Sunny Sunday Afternoon
Top: Collage based on a poem titled "Garbage" that came to me as I was taking out the trash today.
Middle: Collage by my youngest sister, after a nice lunch at my house, also based on my poem. The two other family members in attendance are depicted in photos in Elsa's artwork.
Bottom: Pencil sketch of a bouquet of flowers by my 96 year old mother, after she tired of playing the piano.

Red Parrot
Frustration resolved? After painting over "Two Eggs" with "Balloon Seeking Marble," I was still unhappy with the result so painted over the piece again with this "Red Parrot." I like it enough to leave it alone now.

Disguise Revealed
I concur with the quote from Margaret Atwood: "Everyone else my age is an adult, whereas I am merely in disguise." For more on this, check out the Illustration Friday website.

Glenn Beck on Monkeys
Just discovered something new on my Windows 7 ThinkPad - which is an image collage feature. When I read the latest proof Glenn Beck never studied biology on HuffPost I figured out I could combine the Mono Lisa picture I drew a few years ago on the Saatchi website with some garden photos and a downloaded picture of Beck to create a new collage. Maybe if Beck wants to see a half man half monkey he should simply look in the mirror.
