Having Fun with Photoshop Neural Filters

Photoshop has a new feature where you can run an image through a filter to make it look like another style of art.  Top:  Sam in Greece with a neural filter from an old "at the beach" watercolor.  Bottom three: I took a photo of two roses in a blue vase, and ran that through a filter of an original fabric design, done in illustrator, of a Paenibacillus bacteria, and ended up with the 2nd to top image.  Endless possibilities!  So many ways to avoid housework!

A Day at China Camp

(Above) A digital collage of various photos take at China Camp yesterday.  It's been awhile since visiting this site in San Rafael - about 23 years!  Last time was January 1996 when I did this drawing (Below).  The best way to tell time is with old artwork and photos.  Makes up for having no memory.

San Anselmo Creek Meets Albion Forest

I was invited by the San Anselmo Arts Commission to paint at "Music in the Park" - a weekly Sunday event at Creek Park in downtown San Anselmo from July 31 to August 28.  So yesterday, I packed up my pen & ink & watercolor gear and headed out.  I was the only person doing any art that I noticed, but there were a lot of other people enjoying themselves.  The band was the Lonestar Retrobates - playing retro big band style music.  It was all very enjoyable.  My result was the 7"x10" image above. This was scanned and enlarged to approx. 13" x 20" and merged with a forest picture shot in Albion earlier this month.  Two nice memories merged into one!

Fort Point Roadrunner

Playing around with a photo taken during my recent Aperture Academy workshop at Fort Point in Marin County, adding one of my fabric roadrunner birds and a Samsung Instagram shadow photo.
