High Noon Flowers

Yesterday I drove around and shot pictures in the late afternoon, seeking that special glow of the Golden Hour.  I didn't love anything I took.  So, today, at most photographers least favorite time of day, I took off again on foot taking shots in the neighborhood at high noon.  And, I captured a lot of pictures I like.  I guess I just prefer the glaring colors that are boldest and brightest when the California sun is high up in the sky.

Mothers Day Family Art Project

Mother's day was celebrated a day early in Walnut Creek with some group art
Top:  Redo of 4 square drawing, done by three sisters and one (nearly) 97 year old mother
Middle:  Original 4 square drawing; done with each of 3 sisters having a square and the mother filling in wherever (blue person, pink accents, etc.)
Bottom:  Diptych (ie art done in two pieces, no hinge) joined together here, of a green-headed bird, perhaps in flames?  The result of 4 sisters working together in harmony.

Fondly, Remembering the Band Cream

Playing with the adjustment brush in Lightroom, remembering one of my favorite bands, Cream. Just finished watching a documentary on drummer Ginger Baker, which brought back some happy memories of days filled with great music!

What a difference the Rain Makes

Same view of Bon Tempe Lake and Mt. Tamalpais peak from the Mt. Tamalpais Watershed in November, 2015 and again in April, 2016.  Different camera gear.

In Awe of Nature's Variety

I was tossing this chopped down nasty vine in the recycle bin, when I became fascinated by its complexity, which forced me to take a picture!   This image was photographed on a golden oak floor, with light flooding in through the window from the sunny California daylight, then modified with one of the fabulous NIK Collection Silver Efx Pro filters.

Springtime on Mount Tamalpais

One of my favorite shots from yesterday's outing up Mt. Tamalpais.  What a difference the rain has made!

Took my Nikon D750 with 85mm Lens to the Farmers Market Today (in the rain!)

The woman selling the asparagus saw my camera and told me she was a professional photographer, then showed me her great photos.  She also makes yummy asparagus ravioli.  I LOVE the farmer's market, even when it's raining.

Beautiful Golden Gate Day

Stopped off to shoot the Golden Gate bridge on my way back from the airport where I was applying for Pre TSA.  First time being finger printed!

April Rose

Rose at 5AM, after going to sleep at 4AM, to shoot the foggy San Francisco skyline at dawn from Sausalito. But my favorite pic of the day was taken when I got home to sunshine and shot a snake-like rose bud weaving its sensuous path through the leaves of the front yard lemon tree.

Albion Pic and the Google Nik Collection

While editing over 300 photos shot on my latest trip up to Mendocino, I discovered the newly free Google Nik Collection.  This image of the forest in Albion was edited in Lightroom CC then layered with a B&W copy created using the Nik Collection's Silver Efex Pro.  Great fun!  I could spend all day doing this.

Recent Seattle Art

One of the best parts of visiting my nearly 7-year-old twin grandsons is doing art with them.
Top to Bottom:
1.  Wilson's picture, done while I was drawing the bird, flower and flying bug below it.  I think his flying bugs were influenced by my drawing, but he is a very independent artist and tends to go his own way.
2.  My pencil drawing of a bird, flower and bug.
3.  Cole's tree painting, done while I was painting a watercolor memory of the view of Puget Sound, and the Olympic Mountains from Discovery Park.
4.  My watercolor painting, using the twins' somewhat inferior paint.
5.  A photo of the view of Puget Sound, the Olympic Mountains and the light house in Discovery Park.

Mount Zion Lonestar Quarry As Seen From Mt. Diablo

The sky was dull and hazy when Elsa and I hiked to the top of Mt. Diablo, but with the Alien Skin Exposure X plugin to Lightroom that was easily fixed.  By adding an old color movie filter, labelled "Technicolor Process 4, Vibrant," on my photo, you might think I had swallowed some artificial chemical on the hike.  But you would be wrong.  All I had to eat was a fakin bacon sandwich from Good Earth.
